Robin Hood is a legend made out of at least 10 to 20 actual people around the time of the crusades. Billy the Kid has become a legend, but he is actually based upon 1 real historical figure, and if you read through the myths of the legend, you find a very real human being. Henry McCarty was born sometime between 1859-1861 in either New York or Indiana.
Sure, Robin Hood is very cool, but he's not an actual historical figure. Henry McCarty was. I'm a native New Mexican, and he is our true to life Robin Hood. Oh... also... if any of your 10-20 Robin Hood characters had access to guns, what makes you think they wouldn't use them? It's not like they were taking out gunmen with a bow and arrow. Give 5 of your Robin Hoods a winchester repeater, give Billy a winchester repeater, and my money says Billy takes out at least 2 of them and escapes alive. Hell, the Kid was trapped inside a burning house with a US cavalry unit waiting outside with a Howitzer cannon and he escaped unscathed. The Kid was no joke.
Also, the actual number of killings is 9. 4 were done by the Kid alone, and the other 5 were a joint effort by the Kid and the Lincoln County Regulators during the war.
As a Billy the Kid fanatic, I really did enjoy this episode. It was actually quite factual and didn't play into the large number of myths surrounding the Kid. Even the footstone at his gravesite says he killed 21 men. lol. I'm pretty sure that myth was created by Pat Garrett in the dime novel he wrote to protect his political career.
